Holland - Keukenhof Flower Gardens
Holland is a region in the central-western part of the Netherlands. The name Holland ultimately stems from holt land ("wooded land"). A popular, but incorrect, fake etymology holds that it is derived from hol land ("hollow land"), inspired by the low-lying geography of both the Dutch and the English region (Holland, Lincolnshire).
Keukenhof opens from the last week of March through mid-May. Keukenhof is also known as Garden of Europe. Keukenhof has been the world's largest flower garden that runs throughout spring for over fifty years. The flower garden was started in in 1949.
